Aggressive Pandas

One of the Beijing zoo "stars", eight-year panda male Gu-Gu, on Monday has attacked a 15-years teenager who has got into his cage in the morning and has crippled it. As a result of the attack boy’s both legs have appeared to be gnawed up to bone.

According to the zoo employee, the teenager has got over almost one-and-a-half-meter fence protecting territory on which two pandas live, during animals feeding then Gu-Gu has attacked him. Attack preceded two or three minutes, then employees managed to distract Gu-Gu from boy’s legs. The victim has been sent to the hospital. As the zoo employee has told, the panda feels well and later on Monday with appetite has refreshed himself with the usual meal - bamboo sprouts.

110-kg Gu-Gu has bad reputation - in September, 2006 it has bitten off a part of soft parts of another cage visitor’s leg. A drunk tourist has climbed over the enclosure so that, as he said, "to embrace a fluffy animal", however he has been bitten by it and then in the answer he also has bitten Gu-Gu.

Gu-Gu’s behavior is far from unique - in China pandas often enough attack people. So, in October, 2006 in reserve in a southwest of China a panda has bitten off the USA tourist’s phalanx of thumb when that has tried to feed it, and in August, 2007 in the Chinese city Lanzhou zoo (province of Gansu) the three-year panda has attacked a zoo employee therefore in hospital he had to be put in more than hundred stitches.
